I enjoy playing games with challenging gameplay, but there are times I like to pass time with a simple but fun game like Fruit Ninja. Fruit Ninja is enjoyable, engaging and a bit challenging when you begin. I also like that my kids can play it as well.

For: iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android
Find it on: Google Play,  iTunes

Graphics / Sound: 5/5

Fruit Ninja has impressive 3D graphics, and its clarity is impeccable. I also like that the app is colorful. This aspect makes this Google Android and iOS app exciting for me to play. Every fruit makes a different sound, and the bombs make a hissing sound which keeps players on their toes as they play.

Interface and Controls: 5/5

One of the reasons I consider this app one of the leading apps is the fact that it has a user-friendly interface The interface is not only responsive but very simple. The fact that there isn’t a lot of content makes it very easy to use. The game is clear to understand, and the controls are very simple, convenient and ideally suited for the genre of this game. All you have to do to play the game is swipe across the screen. How easy is that!

Gameplay: 5/5

Fruit Ninja has got to be the most straightforward game to play on the market. All you have to do is chop fruit. There are various types of fruits and an occasional bomb that fall down the screen. There are three modes to choose from  Zen, Arcade, and Classic. In all these modes, the goal is the same; to chop as many as possible by sliding your finger across the screen where the fruit is and avoid hitting the bombs. Hitting the bombs ends the game. You should also collect as many bananas as possible because they have special effects like freeze which makes the fruits move in slow motion and frenzy which gives you a lot of fruits and you don’t have to worry about the bombs. There is also the double points that doubles every point you have.

Both the iOS version and the Android app have several in-app purchases. These include starfruit pack 1($1.99), a bucket of starfruit ($0.99) and a starter pack ($0.99). You don’t have to worry about making any purchases because you can turn off the purchases if you wish.
When I got this Google Play app for my kids and me, I thought it would only be something to make us bond. However, it has proven to be more than that. It is also great for personal enjoyment.  Since the gameplay is really interesting, it has made my kids and me repeat it over and over again. We don’t only bond but compete against each other to see who can slash more fruit.
